The EPLO European Institute for the Study of Chinese Law, Governance and Civilization Launches China–Europe Summer School 2026

  • Date 2 April, 2026

A new flagship summer program on Business, Trade and Politics at the Athens Riviera

The European Institute for the Study of Chinese Law, Governance and Civilization (EISCL), in collaboration with Tsinghua University and under the auspices of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) and the European Law & Governance School (ELGS), is proud to announce the launch of the China–Europe Summer School 2026: Business • Trade • Politics. The program will take place from 20 to 24 July 2026 at the EPLO campus in Legrena–Sounion, Greece.

The Summer School is delivered through the European Law & Governance School (ELGS), EPLO’s international university school. At a moment of accelerating geopolitical change and deepening interdependence between Europe and China, this highly selective program offers an exceptional opportunity for advanced learning at the intersection of international politics, global trade and economic governance. The Summer School brings together distinguished academics, senior policy officials, diplomats and experts from both Europe and China to provide participants with a rigorous, interdisciplinary understanding of one of the most consequential bilateral relationships shaping the 21st century.

Program Highlights

The five-day residential program combines high-level lectures, interactive workshops and policy discussions with immersive study visits to landmark sites including the Hellenic Parliament, the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion, the historic port of Lavrio, and Plaka in Athens. Participants will stay at the EPLO Guesthouse on the Athens Riviera, with accommodation, airport transfers and transportation between Athens and EPLO fully included.

Topics covered include China–Europe political and economic relations, global trade and geo-economics, European institutions and global governance, economic diplomacy, and the strategic challenges of the emerging multipolar global order.

Distinguished Faculty

The program features an outstanding roster of speakers, including:

  • Georgios Katrougalos, Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, UN Independent Expert on a democratic and equitable international order, and Professor of Public Law, European Integration and China–Europe Relations
  • Tang Xiaoyang, Chair and Professor, Department of International Relations, Tsinghua University
  • Vasilis Trigas, Assistant Professor of Global Affairs, Schwarzman College & Department of International Relations, Tsinghua University
  • Dora Papadopoulou, Associate Professor, EPLO, Geopolitics and China–Europe Relations
  • Ambassador Dionyssios Kalamvrezos, Ambassador of Greece to Belgium (2017–2021)

Applications

The program is open to a limited number of participants. The tuition fee is €1,000, inclusive of accommodation, airport transfer and transportation. Applicants are required to submit an updated CV and a short letter of motivation (maximum 500 words) to summerschools@elgs.eu, with the subject line: China–Europe Summer School 2026: Business • Trade • Politics.

Early application is strongly recommended.
